Chemical Reaction Car

Chemical Reaction Car

More than a decade, in 2022, we have created more than 20 generations of Chem-E-Cars that have excelled in each of their competitions. There are several challenges that must be completed, including carrying a certain weight and stopping at a specified trajectory distance, kicking a ball, and dropping a pinball. Furthermore, the car's safety is tested to ensure that it is safe to operate. We also accommodate the judges' curiosity about our cars by presenting them with posters and presentations.

Pressure Car

The "Pressure Car," as the name implies, is a Chem-E-Car powered by pressurized gas produced by chemical reactions. The decomposition of hydrogen peroxide with a ferric chloride catalyst is used in this reaction. The pressure of the oxygen produced by the vessel will flow through the double safety regulator system, moving the pneumatic stroke and roller valve so that the car can move. Almost all of our Chem-E-Cars are pressure car including Spektronics 1, Spektronics 2, Spektronics 5, Spektronics 6, Spektronics Aerio Superior, Spektronics 16, Spektronics Aerio Superior Reborn, Spektronics XX.

Battery Car

A battery is a device made up of voltaic cells that produces electrical power. This device includes a cathode and an anode that will use electrochemistry to convert chemicals into electrical power. The power source of the Chem-E-Car differs from that of commercial batteries. Commercial batteries use lithium mostly, whereas the Chem-E-Car uses other chemicals. The Spektronics 15, Spektronics 18, and Spektronics 11 are all powered by an aluminum-air battery. While the Spektronics 8 and 17 are powered by zinc-air batteries.

Fuel Cell Car

A fuel cell is an electrochemical cell that uses hydrogen and oxygen as an energy source with water as a by-product. This fuel cell car is environmentally friendly because of the chemicals that are safe to use and manufacture. It uses chemical energy to generate electricity cleanly and efficiently. Hydrogen is produced from the reaction between Zn and HCl. While oxygen is produced by the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide with KI as a catalyst. Spektronics 4 is a car powered by fuel cell.

TEG Car

Thermo Electric Generator (TEG) is a device that can convert electricity into hot and cold temperatures. The electricity from the hot and cold chemical reactions is able to run the car. The hot reaction is obtained from the reaction of limestone with water. The cold reaction is obtained from the reaction of dry ice with water. Heat reactions are exothermic, such as CaCO3(s)+ H2O(l) -> CaO + CO2(g)+ H2O(l); cold reactions are endothermic, such as CO2(g) + H2O(l) -> CO2(g) + H2O(l). Spektronics 7 and Spektronics 12 are our TEG Car innovations.
